Creating a Google Application for use in Visual Studio Part 1 - Registering your application with Google

Welcome to part one of my Creating a Google Application for Windows Phone. The first post in my series will be how to setup your application , first by registering your application with Google.

You will want to start by first registering your application here at the Google Developer Console. https://console.developers.google.com

Click on create project

Now you have the ability to create your project name and to show advanced options. The advance options would be used to choose your application data center. I would leave default if you plan on having the majority of your users USA based, if you plan on having more users in Europe or that side of the world you would use the advanced options to change the application data center to that side of the Earth,

Now you will notice most names have been taken, the internal google name will be different, for instance I choose MYAPP, the google application name will be something like MYAPP-0001. In this case I am creating my application named GooGPhone.

Once the application is created you will be brought to the dashboard, here you can add the APIs and try many aspects of the Google Cloud services. In this case we are only interested in the API.

Now before we can access the APIs from an application, we will need to create our credentials. This will be covered in the next part of this series. Till then happy coding and take care...

Juniper Terminal Services Client Not working in Chrome anymore - Java Not Enabled in Chrome Anymore - Chrome Disables Java by default

Huh  Juniper Terminal Services Client is not working in Chrome...

So I log in the other day and notice that I can no longer log into work through the Juniper Terminal Services Client. So I scratch my head as to why and what is going on. Talk to the help desk and they don't know and well still could not figure out why I could no longer log in.

So I end up going back to Internet Explorer which sometimes works with the  Juniper Terminal Services Client Java Plug In and sometimes it just plain does not which was why I was using Chrome to log in through the  Juniper Terminal Services Client, I won't even get into that one, but let's just say after resetting Internet Explorer and erasing all temp files and then rebooting, IE might work.Anyway back to my point; I was talking to a friend of mine who plays this in browser game called Runescape and when I checked it out in Chrome I saw the following "Requires Java plug-in. Not compatible with Google Chrome." and then I ended up finding out that Chrome has disabled The Netscape-era NPAPI, this is now off by default in Chrome 42. and soon will remove it all together. The only way to enable it is to copy the following command in your chrome address bar:

chrome://flags/#enable-npapi

Word has it, this command will also be disabled in September 2015. So I hope either someone finds a perm hack for the Java plug in or Java changes it's API...
Happy Surfing all....

The Local Security Authority cannot be contacted

Today I was having some issues with a Microsoft SharePoint 2007 Site. While in the site I tried to log into the SharePoint portal and was able at that time to successfully log in. Yet I was still having some permissions issues with a certain tab. I decided to log out and try to log in as the service account. As soon as I entered the service account's information I started getting the error "The Local Security Authority cannot be contacted".

I closed the web browser which is Internet Explorer 8.0, I then cleared my cache, cookies and stored passwords. Still I was getting the error The Local Security Authority cannot be contacted. I then decided to clear out my Windows temp files in the system location and the %APPDATA% location. I rebooted my machine. After the reboot I brought up my web browser and went to the website and still got the error The Local Security Authority cannot be contacted.

After all this I finally decided to look in the control panel, I am running Windows 7 which has the control panel applet called the Credential Manager. Once I opened the Credential Manager I looked under Windows credentials and found the site listed as this is an internal SharePoint website which used internalmachinename.domain.com as the domain. Once I found the site I clicked on Remove from vault. Once I clicked remove from vault the error went away.

So to summarize:
To get rid of the error The Local Security Authority Cannot Be Contacted when trying to reach a SharePoint or domain authentication type website check that your credentials are not stored in the Credential Manager in the control panel.

I hope this helps someone out as it cost me too much time!!!
